I had some worries about how Kayleigh would react to Jacob. She would say hi and kiss my tummy when I was pregnant. She knew when you pointed to my tummy that Jacob was there. But did she really know that it was a baby that was coming out named Jacob? I'll never know for sure.
When Jacob and I would go and pick Kayleigh up from daycare, she is so very very protective of Jacob. She will show him off and say "Mommy's tummy." So I guess she kinda knows that Jacob came from Mommy's tummy now, but did she know then...hmm. Speaking of being protective...being in the transition room of 2-3 year olds, she will let certain kids get closer to Jacob than others. One specific day she pushed a girl away. I was quick to discipline, saying "Pushing's not nice. Say sorry." When a teacher was also quick to remove the pushed girl away, saying "She's not the nicest kid." So maybe Kayleigh knows which kids are okay to be close to Jacob and which are not.
Jacob has always been keen to Kayleigh. He first smiled at her (seriously smiled at her) when he was only 10 days old. He listens to her. She can calm him down by singing, usually Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. They have an awesome relationship already. Hopefully that will continue!
Tonight, Steve was playing with the two of them. Jacob was "tickling" Kayleigh. She giggled so much! With a few "Do it again!" coming after. I'm guessing this lasted a good 5-10 minutes straight! She's still trying to remember that he is little, and she has to be a lot "softer" with him. I think she gets sick of us saying it, but she does listen (most of the time).
Siblings...ah :)
