Kayleigh...oh how you've grown!

Today, well...over the last few weeks...I have noticed how much Kayleigh has blossomed with her vocabulary.  She recently moved up to the two year old room...teachers and us as the parents requested it.  She was getting so bored in the one year old room.  She needed more interaction that she was getting there.  About 50% of the kids weren't even walking in the toddler room.  She started acting out with biting and hitting, so we figured...time for a change.  Plus, November is going to bring enough transition as it is with a new brother at home.  SO...she's now fully up in the two year old room.

Some not so great stuff going on there, but we knew there were changes in store.  Their main objective in this room is INDEPENDENCE...however, we believe there needs to be boundaries as well!  First off, Kayleigh has come home in different outfits (sometimes two different outfits in the dirty bags) because she has soaked herself to the bone playing in the sinks...and possibly toilets...in their bathroom.  SEE...BOUNDARIES!!!!!!!  We've been bringing about a cup of sand home a day from the playground...because the kids should know how to take their shoes off, dump the sand out, put their shoes back on, and then come back in the classroom.  AND...her face raw from rubbing her runny nose across both cheeks...enough that her nose is cracked from being chapped...because they should know how to wipe their own noses.  Really...two year olds need to be TAUGHT how to do these things!!!  Enough gripping!

The good stuff..."My turn!"  "Kayleigh's turn" "Let me try" "I'm a big girl"  Plus she's getting her colors down and calls the animals by their names instead of their noises!  ALL the words and phrases and complete sentences and thoughts coming out of my babies mouth!!!  She's getting so big!  She amazes us EVERY DAY!!!!!!!!!!  I love her so much!  We love her so much!  She's been a very helpful little girl in the infant room with Ms. Tammy.  She helps rock, get bottles, show the babies how to play with certain toys.  Oh how I hope she does this with the little guy :)  I'm sure she will...makes this mama's heart melt!

PS...still no binkie since the last time I posted!!!  I think we eliminated it!

PSS...still working on potty training...sometimes, sometimes not...even at daycare.  Someday!

Trying to eliminate the Binkie!

We've been slowly trying to eliminate/reduce the use of the Binkie...affectionately called "Mine" in our house!  She's become quite attached and uses it as a comfort item. As a child thumb-sucker, I'm hoping this will be easier than I remember quitting my habit.  It's now been 36 hours+ of not having our Mine!!!  She's only asked for it a few times, but...apparently unable to find it (hehehe...hidden well!). HOWEVER...NO NAP TODAY!!!!  Is this our punishment?!?!  We'll see how this goes.  Wish us luck.  And wish us well with baby boy...because he'll most likely have a Binkie at times.  I'm hoping we'll be able to break the habit sooner than we did with Kayleigh!

What melts my heart...

I absolutely love hearing my little girl (without prompting) say...I love you!  Please!  Thank You!  Really...a 22 month old does a better job of this than some adults!

She is so in love with her little brother too!  She says, "Hi!" and "Love you" as she smacks my tummy and or kisses it!  I so hope she loves him this much when he's out in the real world!

Big Girl Bed!

So we decided...kinda of out of the blue...to put Kayleigh in her big girl bed :)  We've had the bed up for quite awhile and have really only used it as a changing station.  But with Baby Boy Peterson making an appearance in 3 months or so, we figured why not try and transition her now.

Kayleigh took her nap in it yesterday without any problems at all!  Plus she slept in it last night...with a few bad dreams (maybe) she was up about 2-3 times.  Not sure what is going on, different area of the room, different noises and lights, who knows.  Hopefully in the end it will work out for the best and she'll love the independence :)  She (knock on wood) has ever tried climbing out of her crib and/or her toddler bed as of yet, so no worries for this mama at this time.  But...our baby girl is getting to be such a Big Girl!  Oh how they change :)  We love you, Kayleigh!

Potty Training...sort of!

Kayleigh has taken an interest in potty training.  We aren't pushing too hard, but if she finds the need and desire, we let her!  She's poopied in the potty twice now.  But this morning...she ran in and pee-peed!!!  She was so proud of herself!  We are too...21 months old!!!  Way to go, Monkey!!!

Been WAY too long!!!!!

So...what's new with us.  Well...where to start.  I'm working on my intership for my Master's in Healthcare Administration (besides that class...two more this fall and I'M DONE!)  We've been dealing with flooding in our basement...completely random...our floater to the sump pump got stuck to the bottom so the sump pump didn't work correctly during a 3 in over night rain.  So we had the insurance adjuster come and we compensated.  Now Steve's working on getting the carpet pulled up (luckily that is mainly what we lost!).  Kayleigh and I aren't able to help...mainly because I am pregnant again!  Due in November and we'll know what we are having in a couple of weeks.

Kayleigh is growing like a weed and learning new things every day.  She's definately going thru some "Terrible Two's" action, but oh well!  She had tubes put in the end of April and we've not had to deal with an ear infection since!

Well...best to be going.  I'll try to be more of a blogger!

Cleaner

Kayleigh is our little cleaner!  She loves to tear apart paper towels and walk around the room wiping up imaginary spills around the kitchen.  She also loves pushing the vacuums around the house.  She also is thrilled by doing dishes including loading and unloading the dishwasher.  Why?  Not sure...Steve and I haven't had the time nor the energy to have the cleanest of houses.  Oh well...we enjoy watching her "clean" and try to do a bit with her :)  So...now I need to ask...when should we start doing chores and allowances?  Hmm...
